Current projects, plans and the future
Making traditional natural upholstered furniture is not a new idea, but actually the true craft of upholstery. The use of natural materials and the skills that take years to perfect and implement are the driving force behind my handmade furniture. In using these techniques and the highest quality natural materials, we proudly produce the finest upholstered furniture in the country.
These true skills have been lost in recent years, due to consumerism, cheap materials and lack of skills taught in our trade. We enhance modern technology to the benefit of our customers by showing our actual work and process from start to finish. All of our work comes with a detailed passport of its authenticity by means of providing detailed photos.
The use of coiled springs, horse tail hair, jute, hessians, cotton and wool are completely environmentally friendly and when applied with well-practiced traditional techniques they produce the most beautiful furniture. Working closely and extensively with my frame-makers on each build to insure the production of the frames reach up to the standards expected in fine furniture.
I work with this traditional style, for a number of exclusive London shops and from 2019 all furniture that I make will be completely natural.
If you look back in time, before mass manufacturing, even the contemporary style use these methods. My passion is deeply routed in true upholstery and with the changing styles and consumerism, I stand firm in my belief and true to my trade. It seems that only small businesses are the ones with the power to follow their hearts and in so doing, are creating and leading the way.
